Rare picture of me and Alice, (Never seen before!)
Today is a big day, the man the myth the legend turns 70!
Coop is the whole reason that I do what I do, and I could never see myself doing this without him.
Alice invented everything and will forever be ‘’The King Of Shock Rock’’.
He was the first rocker that I could ever identify myself with, everything about him just spoke to me when I first saw him as a child, and still to this day no one has ever surpassed him!!
Without understanding a single word of his lyrics as a kid, I still understood the whole thing! Because the music, image and his voice spoke to me, and at the age of 3-4 years old I knew what I would be!!!
Through my teenage years, I learned to perform and sing by listening and watching Alice through albums and live concerts, I never tried to sound like him, it just came naturally by growing up with him!
Years later I was so privileged that I was discovered by Alice’s former partner, co-writer and hitmaker Dick Wagner, together they wrote all the great classic hits and albums!
Dick Wagner gave me the offer of performing and and doing a concept album that he and Alice had written together in the tradition of their masterpiece ” Welcome To My Nightmare ”!
I was so overwhelmed and of course I said YES! A new chapter started in my life, and Dick Wagner opened the door and introduced me to Alice Cooper! Alice welcomed me with open arms, and I remember one of the first things I told him was, ‘’Thanks for letting me steal your image! … I’m actually a little nervous about performing your songs on my new album!’’ He responded ‘’Look at you !? … Nothing to be nervous about!’’!
Alice has only been cool about what I’m doing, and I guess that’s the biggest compliment I could ever wish for!
The album never came out … Dick Wagner died a few weeks before the final recordings! But hopefully someday the material will see the light of day!
I could go on and on, but for now I just want to say Happy Birthday to my favorite rockstar and the living legend Alice Cooper! I’m proud to call you my friend!
70 and still going strong, I wish you many more years to come!
